Enjoy the freedom that contact lenses can offer
you. There have been wonderful improvements in lens materials and
designs. If you have been told that you can not wear contacts, ask
us. We have a large selection of lenses available. This allows us
to fit lenses that are the best for you. Some places try to fit
you into the limited type of lenses that are stock. We have over
fifty lens and types that are available for making sure you have
the best.
TYPES OF CONTACT LENSES
The soft lenses are available in many forms.
The can be worn as daily wear (removed at night), extended wear,
flexible wear or new continuous wear which can be worn for a month
at a time. They come as disposable lenses that are replaced daily
to monthly. Planned Exchange lenses are used for several months
before being replaced. Other lenses have an indefinite life span.
In addition to standard spherical lenses, there are toric lenses
that compensate for astigmatism (distortion), and bifocal lenses.
In addition to a wide selection of soft contacts,
we have expertise in gas permeable types. These lenses offer advantages
in many cases and often perform better. Dr. Guhl is one of the few
practitioners in the state who are trained in WAVE design software.
Using this powerful technology, a custom fit lens that matches the
shape of your eye accurately is available. This complex computer
program allows more control over the design of your lenses. Instead
of three parameters, over twenty can be controlled to improve comfort,
fit and performance. This is particularly useful in complex fits
such as for bifocals or disease.
WHO CAN WEAR CONTACT LENSES?
Most people are candidates for wear of contact
lenses. Even children are good candidates in most cases. Older patients
are usually successful wearers as well. An evaluation of your needs
and eyes will allow a plan for achieving the best fit possible.
